Detailed Studies of Red Giants in Eclipsing Binaries

With few exceptions, only eclipsing binaries of SB2 type enable us to determine directly fundamental parameters of stars with the precision required to test stellar evolution models. Hence such objects allow us to compare observations with theoretical predictions, what gives interesting results especially for late type stars. I will briefly presents the results of our on-going spectroscopic survey dedicated to search for red giants in eclipsing binaries from the ASAS catalogue. With data from a wide range of spectrographs (HDS, HARPS, FEROS, GIRAFFE, CHIRON, CORALIE), and extended photometric databases (ASAS, SuperWASP), as well as from a global network of robotic telescopes (Solaris Project) we derive stellar parameters with the accuracy of a few %, but also perform spectral analysis for the systems which spectra we can disentangle.
